During the campaign, the troops on Russell's Top had a splendid view to the north. Before the August offensive, this area was noman's land except for the battle outposts that were situated on the hillocks in the middle of the picture. In the distance Suvla can be seen with the salt lake. Top left and hidden in the mist is Nibrunesi Point, with Suvla Bay behind it, from where the Anzac sector was regularly shelled. |
